How to Prepare for Your First Marathon

Preparing for your first marathon is about keeping things simple and trusting the process. Stick to the training plan you have chosen, stay consistent, and avoid the temptation to do too much too soon. As it is your first marathon, focus on finishing rather than chasing a time, take the pressure off, and enjoy the experience. Connecting with a running community or local run club can make a huge difference, especially if motivation dips. Training with others provides support, accountability, and encouragement on tougher days. It is also important to understand the course, know where the hydration points are, what fuel will be available on race day, and practise all of this during training. Make sure you run in the shoes and clothing you plan to race in, dial in your fueling strategy, and remember the golden rule of marathon running: never try anything new on race day.
